Happy New Year From S. Africa

Well she called as I expected her to. She had a pretty busy day visiting the Gold Reef City and Gold mine, went shopping and had a celebration dinner. She said the food is a little on the spicy side, but very good. They ventured out to a local bar for a few drinks, which she said was pretty dead but there were people dancing in the streets.

They are scheduled to depart early Tuesday morning. I will post her scheduled visits for tomorrow when I blog tomorrow!

She's on the phone calling her friends to wish them a happy new year, she's a little on the lonely side @ the moment but in good spirits.

New Year's Eve...

Well this guy here........I think is lonesome for his mom. He's been awfully clingy to ole grandma. I've been trying to be extra nice to him too. Haven't heard from Emma neez today, but maybe she'll call around 4:00 p.m. when she's ringing in the new year....wayyy over there. She specifically instructed me to hug him up @ least 2 times a day everyday while she's gone. Here's also a pic of her and all of her little brothers. Including Gary holding his nephew!! Ha.

Final post for the day.

Here's an aerial view of
Johannesburg...
She finally got to her hotel and called me, it was 12:30 a.m. & she was exhausted and frustrated because she had a hard time getting her phone card to work, it's hot in the hall way where she had to make her phone calls.
Breakfast is at 6:00 a.m. and they're off @ 8:30 a.m. for a full day of exploring & shopping. She said the plane ride was loooong, but they served really good food.

(I can rest easy now that she's safely on the ground).

Sunday, December 30

Well, as of now @ 12:00 p.m. she's still 'in flight' from Amsterdam to Johannesburg International Airport. They're 8 hours ahead of us, it is currently 8:00 p.m., the temperature at this time is 73 degrees and she has another 1.5 hours in the air with scheduled arrival at 9:30 p.m.
They'll check in here for a two night stay
http://www.city-lodge.com/rl8.htm#. On Monday the temperature in Johannesburg will be a clear and sunny 84 degrees! They will begin their adventure with a visit here: http://www.sa-venues.com/attractionsga/gold-reef-city.htm to include a tour of the Gold Reef City Mint which is the only private mint in South Africa. That afternoon, they will journey onto the Sandton Mall for any last minute shopping and back to the Road Lodge Hotel in Rivonia for a New Year's Eve Party!
I will continue to blog about her trip, once she gets 'connected' to a computer I will share some of her experience with you. This is exciting.....and it helps in not missing her so much.

Happy Birthday!

18 years ago today, he was born. First and only boy in my family. Yeah, he's my baby. His big plans for the day are getting his drivers license renewed and going out to dinner with his dad. We'll celebrate with a cookout for him on Saturday. He can invite his little buddies over for a birthday party.....ohhhhhh.
