Our Saturday
We had a really nice day on Saturday!! Walked around Art in the Park in the rain with our gigantic umbrella's we purchased at the St. Croix pow wow. Saw a few people we knew, made small talk, ate delicious cheese curds and a spicy beef stick.
As we were walking around, Emma says to me "I wonder if people ever wonder if we get sick of each other". I asked her if she ever got sick of me, she said only when I get on her nerves - like when I'm asking her too many questions, etc. Of course, I NEVER get sick of her. Little sidebar here....one of our favorite movies is called "Anywhere but here", with Natalie Portman and Susan Sarandon....you have to watch it!!!
Anyway, Emma decided she wanted to grill brats, so we went grocery shopping. Also bought gourmet mushrooms to make the stuffed mushroom caps they serve at Tutto's. We stopped at Tutto's after shopping, we told the owner we were going to try and imitate their mushroom caps, so he wrote down the ingredients for us, maybe we'll make them later on today. A friend of Emma's text messaged her while we were there, so we invited him to join us.
Came home and grilled the brats, including the spicy italian's. They absolutely hit the spot - they were phenomenal!!

Our week-end with Aazhide and Nona was enjoyable too! Gramps got a kick out of Aazh when she cought a sunfish and started to clean it with his fish cleaner. She handles worms and leeches with her hands, just before she left, she asked me to play some music so she could dance for me before she left. I played music by Johnny Cash and she twirled, danced and did circles until she got tired out! I wish I would have captured a picture of her cleaning her fish. Gram
Ole little crazy aazh. She's really full of life!!!
You mentioned cheese curds!
The best come from the proclaimed “Cheese Curd Capital of Wisconsin” in Ellsworth, Wisconsin. (The Governor of Wisconsin gave them that title!) They are so squeaky good! Their cheese is ALL NATURAL and is made from rBST free milk. If you are near Ellsworth, Wisconsin stop in their creamery store after 11 a.m. and take home WARM packages of FRESHLY made cheese curds! SQUEAKY FRESH!
They do have a web site and sell fresh and lightly, hand-breaded cheese curds too. They sold 104,000 lbs to the Minnesota State Fair last year and have been selling to state and county fairs for over a decade! They are also in A&W Restaurants. If you go to a Milwaukee Brewers home game at Miller Park you can buy the breaded cheese curds there.
Their cheese morsels remain the color of fresh quality milk: White!
(Have you ever drank a glass of orange milk?)
Or if you purchase one of their fresh 1# cheese curds packages (Deli section of Cub Foods for example) there is a very simple recipe on the back of their packages - it is so easy to make your own batter with only FOUR common ingredients. Additional recipes are on their web site.
If you can't get to their creamery store, these cheese morsels are in many grocery stores.
Remember to microwave for just 15 seconds to bring out the rich cheddar flavor and its trademark SQUEAK!
